There’s nothing better than a freshly squeezed glass of orange juice to accompany a hearty breakfast. Homemade orange cordial is so refreshing on a hot summer day.
Ingredients
- 2 ½ kg sugar
- 2 ½ litres water
- 2 litres orange juice
- 2 Tbsp citric acid
- 2 tsp tartaric acid
- 2 tsp Epsom’s salt
Method
1. Heat up water and sugar until the sugar is dissolved. Take off stove.
2. Add the orange juice.
3. Mix the citric acid, tartaric acid and Epsom’s salt with a bit of the liquid. When it’s dissolved, add to the rest of the liquid.
4. Allow it to cool and then bottle it. It lasts for a long time especially if you keep it in a fridge.
5. Dilute the orange cordial with iced water or soda water to serve.
TIP
If you want the cordial to be less sweet, halve the sugar and water in the recipe.
